Lions Provide Funds for Eye Treatments
At their October, 2019, meeting the New Bloomfield Lions Club celebrated the award of $4536.00 in behalf of Kaylee Weibley and her parents Shane and Melissa Weibley, to cover the cost specialized eye treatments for Kaylee. Past District Governor David C. McCluskey received the initial request for funds from Lion Tom Wagner, a member of New Bloomfield Lions Club and Kaylee’s grandfather. The family needed funds to secure important eye treatments not covered by their insurance. PDG McCluskey worked with Kathy Nearly to secure a grant from Northeast PA Lions Service Foundation. Total funds needed were $4536.00 NEPALSF awarded 80% of this total.
The Ickesburg Lions Club, home club of Kaylee’s residence, and the New Bloomfield Lions Club, each contributed 10% to complete the monies required for Kaylee’s treatment. The prompt response from NEPALSF and the rapid cooperation of the two local clubs resulted in a 10% discount and ensured that the entire cost was paid prior to the start of treatment.
